Hire Advice

Practical hire advice

The right tools. The right preparation.

Choosing equipment is about more than matching a name to a job. Material, working area, access, power supply and operator all matter. Give us a clear picture of the task and we can help identify suitable options and accessories.

Tell us about the work, not just the tool.

The task

Share the material, measurements, depth, weight and finish needed.

The site

Check doorways, steps, slopes, ground, ventilation and limits on noise, dust or emissions.

Power and fuel

Confirm the available supply and any leads, transformers, batteries or fuel required.

People

Make sure the operator is competent and has any required training or supervision.

Protection

Identify the PPE, dust control, guarding and safe working area needed.

Transport and time

Plan collection or delivery and allow time for setup, work, cleaning and return.

Check before you start.

  • Match equipment and accessories to the paperwork
  • Raise any concern immediately
  • Ask for safety and operating information
  • Request a demonstration if needed
  • Confirm shutdown, charging and fuelling
  • Check the return and off-hire process

Never use equipment if you are uncertain that it is suitable, complete or safe.

Use it safely. Keep it secure.

Follow the manufacturer’s instructions, complete pre-use checks, use suitable PPE and allow only competent people to operate equipment.

Protect hired items from weather, theft, misuse and avoidable damage. Keep keys and removable parts secure.

If a fault or unsafe condition develops, stop work, isolate the equipment where safe and contact us. Do not attempt an unauthorised repair.

Return everything together.

Gather the machine, guards, attachments, leads, batteries, chargers, keys and manuals. Remove your materials, clean reasonably and follow the agreed fuel or charging arrangement. Report any fault, damage or missing item.

Return equipment by the due time or arrange collection. If the job overruns, contact us before the hire ends to check availability and agree an extension.

Useful things to know.

Can I hire without a trade account?

Yes. Occasional hires are welcome, subject to suitability and availability. We will confirm identification, payment and deposit requirements.

Can you deliver?

Delivery and collection can be arranged for many hires, subject to location, vehicle and equipment availability.

What if I need it longer?

Contact us before the agreed end so we can check availability and confirm revised arrangements.

What if equipment develops a fault?

Stop using it, make the area safe and contact us promptly. Do not repair it unless authorised.
